Duck Commander is in its 50th year as a company, and yet for most of that time, it was a cottage industry: building duck calls in the family home. All of that changed in the early 2000s when the brand of duck calls started getting the recognition it deserved. Designed by Phil Robertson in the early 1970s, the now-famous duck calls have led to the demise of tens of thousands of ducks.
But there is far more to the story than mere duck calls. Phil Robertson's conversion has been well documented, and today's show is not about Phil, but about his son Willie. Willie took his business degree and helped propel Duck Commander into a global phenomenon, making them the most sold, most watched and most admired company in the outdoor space.
Willie's humility about how the company grew under his leadership is apparent in this conversation. From expanding sponsorships to TV deals, and the now infamous Duck Dynasty shows. Willie is the epitome of an entrepreneur and as such the family has a platform to focus on what is most important and that is in sharing their faith with tens of millions of folks all across the world.
I am humbled that Willie took time out of his hectic schedule to sit down with me as we discuss all things, ducks, bucks, and Jesus.
